What Does an Ideal Husband-Wife Conduct Look Like?

Pandit Shriram Sharma Acharya and Mataji Bhagawati Devi Sharma

How must an ideal husband-wife behave? Should they be each others competitors or supporters? This small excerpt from Lilapat Sharma’s book sends a very big message.

Gurudev used to assist Mataji in her housework and she in turn assisted him in his Ashram work. Before Gurudev’s lecture, Mataji used to sing a religious song. Then she would go home to prepare lunch for all devotees. After feeding the devotees Mataji and Gurudev together cleaned the plates. After that Mataji would open the mail and read out the letters to Gurudev, who would write out the answers.

Moral Lesson To Imbibe

An ideal husband and wife share and lighten each other’s workload. If the husband sees that his wife needs help in the kitchen, or that she requires assistance in taking care of the children, he lovingly helps her. The wife in turn tries her best to lighten his office work-load. In this way they both care for each other’s well-being and happiness.
