A monk from ISKCON was expounding on the Gita when a rationalist interjected. She said: “You say that the Bhagavad Gita is the word of God, but who has seen God? Who has talked to God? If no one has seen Sri Krishna then how can we accept the Gita to be true? Isn’t it superstition to believe the teachings of the Gita blindly?”
The devout monk could not resolve the lady’s doubt, but the answer has been provided by Swami Vivekananda. Swamiji has bridged the gap between the heartfelt devotion of the monk and the quest for a rational answer of the girl.
In this FAQ we listen to Swamiji’s answer in depth. Swami Vivekananda himself was a staunch rationalist, who initially did not believe in the existence of Ma Kali. He had many arguments with his guru Sri Ramakrishna regarding this. But one day Swamiji had such a profound spiritual experience that he changed his view. He received firm proof that the Hindu God’s who are worshipped as idols all exist.
What was this proof? How do we know for sure that Sri Krishna exists? How can we perceive his subtle presence? With what instrument? The answers to all these questions are in this FAQ.
