“What we need is to control the panic…we’re going to be fine.”
– Nobel Laureate Michael Levitt

Note: As Professor Michael Levitt has explained in the above article, the rate of spread of the corona virus is slowing, and therefore panicked projections of millions of death, around the world, will not pan out. However even after nationwide lockdowns, the virus will not be completely eliminated. Hence it is likely that once lock-downs end, personal distancing and hygiene methods will continue to be stressed upon by governments, until a vaccine has been invented. Such a vaccine most experts tell us is at least 1 year away. Therefore instead of panicking, we must calmly and patiently plan our life ahead in this new scenario.

“The social-distancing mandates are critical — particularly the ban on large gatherings — because the virus is so new that the population has no immunity to it, and a vaccine is still many months away. “This is not the time to go out drinking with your buddies.”
– Nobel Laureate Michael Levitt
